The Series Hybrid Intelligent Electric Drive (SHIELD) project was looking to develop the world’s first single-speed series hybrid powertrain for front loaders used in the construction and mining industries, drastically reducing harmful emissions from this class of Non-Road Mobile Machinery (NRMM).

The project completed Phase 1 (Feasibility) successfully but wasn’t selected for Phase 2 funding.
