Winter brings cold weather, closed windows, indoor heating, and increased indoor clothes drying, raising concerns about mould and its health effects. This issue gained attention following the tragic death of two-year-old Awaab Ishak due to prolonged mould exposure.

A Clean Air Programme project, Imperial College London’s WellHome study, is monitoring mould and indoor pollutants in west London homes. Presenter James Gallagher visits Roxanne, a mother of four, whose home is equipped with monitoring devices to collect data aimed at improving housing quality and healthcare practices.

Dr. Athena Trachalaki and Professor Frank Kelly from WellHome discuss the health risks of indoor pollutants, while Dr. Jonathan Grigg suggests gas cookers may need to be phased out. Additionally, Professor Alastair Lewis evaluates James’s home, offering tips to improve indoor air quality.
