NERC Impact Awards 2023

The 2023 NERC Impact Awards are now open for entries. The awards aim to champion the positive impact that NERC-funded research and researchers bring to our everyday lives, including our society, economy and environment.
People are at the heart of the science they fund and, the competition has been designed to recognise and celebrate the wide range of people and roles in the environmental science research community, who contribute to impactful research and public engagement activities.
Reflecting on their growing investment to deliver against their Public engagement with research and innovation strategy, NERC are keen to celebrate economic, societal or environmental impacts achieved through public involvement in and within research. Entries that recognise impacts achieved through public engagement through one or more of the awards are encouraged to apply, this could include; public consultation, co-design, citizen science, exhibitions and events.
Entries will be accepted from individuals or teams, with a separate category for early career researchers.
NERC will make a number of awards, with a top award of £20,000.
The deadline to submit an impact case study is midday on 21 April 2023.
The awards will be presented at a ceremony in London in November 2023.
